Music for Youth Regional Festival
On Saturday 18 March 2006, the youthband travelled to Wrexham to take part in the regional Music for Youthfestival. The event was held in Rhosnesni High School. Whilst the festival had the features of a contest there were no points or placings awarded. The band were drawn to play early in the afternoon.

At the end of the afternoon the adjudicators gave their views on all who had performed in the afternoon session. These remarks were very positive and showed the high level of perfomance by players. The written comments from the two adjuicators are shown below:

The musical director of the youth band, Carol Stokes, is shown below collecting the certificate from one of the adjudicators, Stuart Johnson.
Stuart Johnson is a familair name in brass band circles - from his 'Preliminary Bandbook' for beginners to the composition of far more demanding works used for senior band contests.

There are no winners announced at the end of each regional festival. When all the regional festivals have taken place, the organisers invite particularly high performing groups to a national festival. Last year the Gobowen Primary School Choir, also led by Carol, appeared in the national festival at the New Symphony Hall, Birmingham.
Stay tuned for this year's national festival performers!
