As a holder of the rules you are a member of Porthywaen Silver Band and as such the committee expect you to maintain certain stnadards relevant to our organisation.

You should be in possession of a copy of the Consitution and the following additional rules set out they way we should conduct ourselves when we are performing together.

a) Rehursals have always been held on Monday evenings but will be held as deemed necessary by the Bandmaster. They will normally at 7.30 pm and last approx. 2 hours.

b) There is a Band Co-ordinator who is responsible for ensuring that the Band is ready for the conductor. This includes such items as dress, seating and discipline on and off stage. It is a difficult job; using your own common sense, try to make his job as pleasant and as easy as possible.

c) If you are allocated a Band Instrument treat it with respect, keep it clean and in good order inside and out and report any defects to the Instrument Steward as soon as possible and he will organise repairs.

d) You will be allocated a uniform, which consists ofa jacket, a straight tie which is normally worn during outside functions and a bow tie wich is normally worn on indoor occasions. You are asked to provide a plain white shirt of blouse of regular style and black trousers (if not available from the uniform steward) or skirt and black shoes of a style befitting the uniform. The ladies are asked to wear plain black stockings or tights, the men plain black socks. The Uniform Steward will try to reallocate jacket sizes from time to time, please see him if you experience any difficulties in fitting etc.

e) Whoever is conducting the band shall have complete control at that time, and any member who behaves irresponsibly will be dealt with by the committee as they may determine.

f) The Bandmaster shall decide on the allocation of instrument type and their location within the band.

g) There is an impiled commitment as a member of the Band and every effort should be made to attend all practices and engagements as a group.

h) Any requests to use Band Instruments elsewhere should be made to the Bandmaster.

i) Having regard to the available facts, and in an individual basis, the committee will consider plsnned absence. It is considered that the Bandmaster will be made aware in the first instance of any such absence.

j) The committee regards misconduct very seriously and will expel any member, having regard to the facts.

k) Any members leaving the Band will return all Band property to the appropriate steward in good condition and will be expected to pay any costs incurred by the Band, of reinstating any damage.
