There are many ways you can help support the band.

You can book the band for an engagement.  For more details see our events page.

You can make a donation.  All donations are gratefully received. Running the band is a considerable financial undertaking.  We do not charge fees or subscriptions and we are not sponsored or in receipt of statutory funding.  All our income is from engagement and hall hire fees, donations or grants. This has to cover hall running costs, maintenance and insurance, instrument repair and replacement, building, instrument and music insurance, performing arts fees and our senior band MD's fees.  Our MD is the only person in the organisation who is paid. We are registered for gift aid.

Become a Follower of the Band.  Individual, family and corporate supporters who wish to make a longer term financial commitment to support the band can become a 'Follower'.   As a Follower of the Band you will be invited to a special annual concert each year as a thank you for your continued support.  Suggested minimum annual donations for Followers of the Band are:

Company - £100

Family - £35

Couple  - £20

Individual - £10

Give some time to the band.   Many hands make light work and hands are always welcome at Porthywaen.  If you have skills you think we could utilise as a charity and / or can spare some time to help us maintain/clean the band hall, prepare for events, support the work of our committee, make tea and coffee then please get in touch and you'll be welcomed into the family with open arms.
